Shoes are pretty much a wardrobe essential. But while one pair of comfortable, practical shoes is just fine for some, others feel the need to fill their closets with shoes of every style, color, height and purpose. From sandals to boots, there are so many different types of shoes to buy. Unfortunately, you can’t have them all. But Ella is at least going to try. Hear her talk with Jason about one of her favorite things in the world, shoes.

Jason: I think it’s about time for me to get some new shoes.
Ella: Do you need help? I am a shoe expert. I have over a hundred pairs of shoes. My favorite pair of shoes are definitely high heels. I have like 50 different pairs of high heels.
Jason: Wow. I have like one pair, so yeah, I could use some help. I get shoes like once every two years.
Ella: What? You need them for different occasions, you know? Casual, beachy, raining. I don’t understand why…one…you can’t wear one to the ball and then go to a game. I don’t understand.
Jason: Well, I don’t really go to the ball. But yeah, just, you know, brown seems to do the trick for just about everything.
Ella: Are you trying to be comfortable or stay more in a budget?
Jason: Definitely comfortable. Something trendy would be cool.
Ella: Fashion? Fashionable?
Jason: Also practical, though.
Ella: OK.
Jason: Gotta be practical, and no sandals.
Ella: Hmm. We’ll make it work. We’ll make it work.

Jason needs a new pair of shoes. Ella says she will help him go shopping. She has over 100 pairs of shoes, so she is a shoe expert.
Jason can’t believe Ella has so many shoes. He thinks one pair of shoes is enough. But Ella says you need different types of shoes for different occasions.
Ella asks Jason what kind of shoes he is looking for. He wants brown, trendy shoes that aren’t sandals. He wants shoes he can wear anywhere, and he wants them to be practical. Ella thinks she can find him something he’ll like.
Do you like shopping for shoes? What kind of shoes do you like? Describe your favorite pair of shoes.
