It’s so fun to get packages in the mail. The bigger they are, the more exciting it is!
There are several companies that deliver packages. Some are UPS, the Post Office and FedEx.
Sometimes receiving a package means a little work. If you aren’t at home when it comes, the delivery company might not leave it. How do you get the package? Read on to find out!

Dialog

1. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.

If you are expecting a UPS package, be on the lookout for the delivery person. Sometimes it is hard to know when UPS will arrive.
If UPS tries to deliver a package when you are away from home, they will leave a note on your door.
You should read the UPS note. See what day and time they plan to return. If you want to have them deliver your package when you are not going to be at home, sign the back of the note. This gives them permission to leave the package even if you are not there.
The next thing that you need to do is to put the UPS note on the outside of your front door. When UPS returns, they will see your signature on the note and then they will deliver your package.

Discussion

Do you understand how to get a package? If you’re not home when it comes, it might be a hassle. One suggestion is to have packages delivered to your work. There’s a better chance you, or someone else, will be there to receive it.
I hope this week’s Real Life lesson helps you receive packages. It might take a little work, but it’s not that difficult.
Your American Friend,
John
