When life gets really stressful, sometimes you just want to get away. You start dreaming about your perfect vacation. Maybe it’s a tropical beach with chairs lined up along the clear blue ocean. Maybe it’s a mountain cabin, cozy with a blazing fire and lots of blankets. Maybe it’s a big city with skyscrapers and lots of shopping.
Wherever your dreams take you, you have to make a plan to get there. It’s not only the flight, though. You have to book hotels, reserve a rental care, find good restaurants, and plan activities for your trip. Sometimes putting everything together can be just as stressful as your everyday life!
One way to skip the stress is to buy an all-inclusive package for your vacation. You pay one price, and all the details are taken care of. It’s easy, and you won’t have to worry about where to stay, what to eat, or what to do.
Amanda and Marni are having problems planning their vacation. Find out why in this English lesson.

Marni: Amanda, trying to plan this trip with you is so stressful!
Amanda: What is the problem?
Marni: I feel like I need to hire a travel agent or something because I don’t know what to do! There’s so much planning involved. Where do we stay? How do we get around?
Amanda: Might I suggest an all-inclusive package?
Marni: Really? Is that a good deal?
Amanda: I don’t know if it’s a good deal, but at least it’s one push of a button and everything is taken care of for you. Flight, hotel, rental car, meals…
Marni: Really? Do you feel like you get your money’s worth out of that?
Amanda: I don’t really look at it that way, Marni.
Marni: I guess I do. It just seems like resorts are just so sterile. It’s such a touristy way to experience a place.
Amanda: I know, but on the commercials, the people are so attractive. So I feel like even though you are paying a premium, you’re surrounding yourself with really nice scenery.
Marni: You mean beautiful people?
Amanda: Yes.
Marni: Is that your idea of a perfect getaway?
Amanda: Well, yeah. I just wish that you wouldn’t concern yourself so much with the fine print of it all. Who cares?
Marni: I guess so. I need to budget for this, and I just want to make sure that this is the right way to go.
Amanda: Let’s worry about the budget after we make the trip. OK?
Marni: OK.

Discussion
Marni thinks planning a vacation with Amanda is really stressful. She doesn’t know where to stay or how to get around.
Amanda suggests they book an all-inclusive package. That way she and Marni don’t have to worry about the details. They can just relax and enjoy their time away.
For Marni, it’s important to make sure that she’s getting what she pays for. She has to budget for the trip, and she doesn’t want to waste her money.
Amanda says the money isn’t the important part. She wants to plan the trip and then worry about how much it costs.
Do you think all-inclusive vacations are a good deal? Would you rather plan everything by yourself or have a travel agent take care of all the details?
