A car is a great way to travel. Having your own car gives you the freedom to go anywhere you want whenever you want. However, cars can be a hassle. You have to find places to park, gas is expensive and cars aren’t always reliable. If you have a car, you probably know about some of the trials and tribulations of owning one.
Anna recently helped a car in need. A friend of her’s was having car problems and needed a jump start. Read on to learn more about what she had to do.

Dialog

1. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.

Anna got a call last week from one of her friends, who was stranded. Her friend’s car wouldn’t start, so Anna volunteered to try to help. She drove over to the store where her friend’s car was stopped and they tried to jump start it.
It turned out that the jump start wouldn’t work, so Anna’s friend had to call AAA. AAA is a service that helps drivers with their cars. A AAA towtruck arrived within about a half an hour. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to start the car either, so he had to tow it to a mechanic.
Luckily, the mechanic was able to fix Anna’s friend’s car in about an hour. He fixed a problem with the electrical system and everyone was on their way.

Discussion

Although Anna wasn’t able to help get her friend’s car started, she was able to offer moral support. Having car trouble can be a real headache, so it was nice of Anna to be there for her friend.
Hopefully you and your friends won’t have any car trouble in the future!
Have a great week,
John
