Most people agree about one thing. Dessert is delicious! Some people love a soft and satisfying baked good, like a cookie or a cinnamon roll. Other people prefer cold and creamy desserts, like ice cream and gelato. All of these desserts satisfy a craving for something sweet.

People typically eat dessert after a meal, but some people have a sweet tooth and love to eat sweets at any time. Baked goods can be wonderful at breakfast, and ice cream is a great snack on a hot day.

Gary and Marni both love sweets. Find out about their favorite treats in today’s lesson about desserts.

Marni:  Yes. I, too, understand the desire for something sweet.

Gary:  I think my favorite dessert is a baked good.

Marni:  Pastries, cookies…

Gary:  cinnamon rolls.

Marni:  Yeah.

Gary:  The cinnamon and icing going together. It’s so satisfying.

Marni:  It is satisfying.

Gary:  Tastes so good.

Marni:  So, what do you think about frozen desserts? Ice cream, gelato…?

Gary:  I like it, and I especially like it with a warm pie.

Marni:  Yeah… a la mode. Yeah, I’m with you. Well, Gary, you’ve definitely made me want a sugar high, so I think we need to go get a dessert. What do you want to get?

Gary:  There’s a great place just around the corner.

Marni:  Yeah? A little bakery?

Gary:  Let’s go.

Marni:  Let’s do it.

I used to crave sweets at any time, but now I don’t. After all, sugary foods are not that healthy and nutritious. My favorite desserts to eat after a meal are pastries and cookies.

Well, I usually crave eating in general when I’m on an empty stomach, so if I just had lunch and especially a heavy meal I’ll not be able to accept any food of any kind. And I don’t think I have a sweet tooth.

My best dessert is diverse-fruity ice cream in a very hot day.
