Have you ever been so involved in something that you forgot to do something else? Maybe, you were working on your favorite hobby, and you forgot to clean the house. Or perhaps, you were dancing with a cute partner, and you forgot to ask if this person was already taken. You probably didn’t want to jeopardize their relationship, but you really wanted to dance with them. In situations like these, you just got swept up in the moment.
When you are swept up in the moment, you are very focused on the thing in front of you. In fact, you’re so focused that you forget about everything else. You might be so excited to make great New Year’s resolutions that you forget to also make your resolutions realistic. Instead, you might be building castles in the sky. We all get swept up in the moment at times, but it’s good to relax and save some things to look forward to in the future.
Did Jordin just get swept up in the moment when she kissed Andy? Find out in today’s English soap opera.

Dominique: Well, Kelsey, I’m sorry your flight got canceled, but on the bright side, at least, we get to hang out! Instead of my family, I get to have a party with all my friends!
Kelsey: Thank you, Dominique. I was really sad about not being able to travel home, but this party will be a fun reason to stay.
Dominique: Do you have any New Year’s resolutions? Anything you’re hoping or planning to do in the new year?
Kelsey: I think I’m going to stop building castles in the sky. I build things up really big in my mind, and a lot of times, the reality doesn’t meet my expectations, like last month with the music video. I had these huge plans, and when it didn’t happen, I was really sad. Same with traveling home. I was so excited…
Dominique: I think it’s good to get excited about things, though. You shouldn’t lose that part of you, Kelsey.
Kelsey: Yeah, I like having things to look forward to.
Dominique: Maybe, just know that things change, and instead of traveling, you might get to hang out with your friends, for example.
Kelsey: That’s a good way of looking at it. Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?
Dominique: I want to stop worrying about my family so I can relax and have fun!
Andy_H: I’m so sorry, Sheila. We were just having a good time and then… bam! I really think Jordin was just getting swept up in the moment and giving me a kiss on the cheek.
Sheila: I understand, Andy. I was just feeling vulnerable, and I guess when I saw that, it really affected me.
Andy_H: I’m so sorry that your trip got canceled, but I’m happy that we get to spend time together.
Sheila: Yeah, me too! My New Year’s resolution is to make sure that I don’t get swept up in the moment and react so quickly.
Andy_H: All right! You’re supposed to high five…
Sheila: Yeah, no. I don’t think so.
Kelsey: Is everything OK with you, Andy, and Sheila?
Jordin: I think so. I mean, I definitely don’t want to jeopardize his relationship with Sheila.
Kelsey: Well, it sounds like you just got swept up in the moment. I mean, it was just a kiss on the cheek.
Jordin: It was. I think Sheila and Andy are going to be OK.
Kelsey: That’s good. Are you getting along with Sheila?
Jordin: I think we’ll be OK, eventually. But…
Kelsey: What?
Jordin: I think I still like Andy. I think that’s why I kissed him. I know that’s why.
Kelsey: Oh… Well…
Jordin: But! He’s taken! So, my New Year’s resolution is that I’m going to not let myself get swept up in feelings like this, and I’m going to enjoy my friendship with Andy.
Kelsey: That sounds like a good resolution.
