Miguel

Tanis:  Miguel

Miguel:  What?

Tanis:  I saw the worst movie I’ve ever seen this weekend.

Miguel:  What movie was it?

Tanis:  Joe Dirt

Miguel:  What was so bad about it?

Tanis:  Everything. It was awful and and it just wasn’t funny, ya know? So, it was like, they had no plot and they just threw together all these like things that thought might be funny, but just sorta put them together with no real flow or anything.

Miguel:  Well, what’s it about?

Tanis:  Well, it sounds funny, so I’m going to tell you’re going to think that that it sounds funny, but just trust me, OK.

Miguel:  OK.

Tanis:  So, it’s about this guy played by David Spade, he’s like this little kinda um white trash type of guy. He has this big mullet and he drives around in this old Camaro and…

Miguel:  He has a Camaro?

Tanis:  Yeah.

Miguel:  Nice.

Tanis:  It’s all like rusted out though…

Miguel:  Ahh.

Tanis:  ...with smoking and big back wheels and stuff and um and he’s the janitor at a radio station and they have this kinda like Howard Stern type of DJ, who, uh, thinks that David Spade, ya know, he wants him to tell him his story and so David Spade’s story is that he was left in the dumpster at the Grand Canyon when his was 8 and he’s looking for his parents. But it’s like, it’s not just like about him looking for his parents, it’s about him as being the eternal optimist, he just keeps going on, but it’s just so stupid.

Miguel:  That sounded pretty good to me right now.

Tanis:  Yeah, but see, I thought is sounded kinda funny, like it could be funny, ya know, for a joke movie, but it was terrible.

Miguel:  Huh.

Tanis:  It was awful. Anyways…

Miguel:  So, were they’re a lot of people at the movie?

Tanis:   Oh my gosh, no. There, I convinced everyone to go to this movie and there was probably, ya know, ten other people in there besides Jane, and my boyfriend, and I.

Miguel:  Uh huh.

Tanis:  So, I anyways, by the end of the movie, I think everyone had left except for my sister and I so we were just sitting there laughing.

Discussion

Joe Dirt” doesn’t sound like it is a very funny movie. The way Tanis described the plot to Miguel caught his interest, but in the end, Tanis strongly recommended not seeing the movie.
