Tanis: Miguel, I have to confess something to you.
Miguel: What is it?
Tanis: I love E.T.!
Miguel: Why are you saying that to me right now?
Tanis: Well, I, uh, my boyfriend and I went and took his little brother and sister to go see it and I, like, cried harder than they did!
Miguel: Wait, so you saw the new, like, super digital version that’s supposed to be better than the original?
Tanis: Well I don’t know if it was better than the original, ‘cause I was like five or six when it first came out, but I absolutely loved it. It’s just magic, and it totally reminded me of being a kid and seeing it.
Miguel: Well, I haven’t seen it since it first came out, so I’m excited to see it again, but, I wasn’t sure if there was anything different. Is there anything different?
Tanis: I think they added in a couple of scenes, but I didn’t even remember the differences because it had been so long, but the story itself still really spoke to me, you know, it’s the little kid who befriends this alien that gets left behind and so it’s kind of like you get wrapped up in E.T.’s story as you feel sorry for him ‘cause he’s alone and he doesn’t, at first, he can’t communicate and he’s scared and all that, but then also you kind of fall in love with the little boy because he’s, um, you can just really relate to him. He’s like every kid, you know, how they would act and then how they become so close and he tries to help his alien friend and all that. I really loved it.

I was an E.T. freak when I was a kid. I belonged to the E.T. Fan Club, I had E.T. dolls, and played all of the E.T. games. I couldn’t get enough of E.T. I remember waiting for E.T. to come out on video so I could watch it again when I was in the 7th grade. I hope I have a chance to see it while it’s in theater. I want it to be as special as the first time I saw it!
See you at the movies!
