Old School is a popular new comedy starring Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrel. Thousands of people have been going to see it because it’s outrageously stupid and overwhelmingly funny. The basic story is of three twentysomething guys who don’t want to grow up. They get into a lot of trouble in trying to stay young, wild and free.
Migs is really excited about seeing Old School. Anna isn’t so sure. Listen to them discuss their thoughts on the movie.

Dialog

Anna

Migs

Anna: Hey Miguel, what are you doing this weekend?

Migs: Uh, I don’t really have any big plans, but I am gonna check out that movie Old School. Have you seen that yet?

Anna: No, but one of my guy friends did, and are you sure you wanna see it?

Migs: Well, I think so. I think it looks hilarious. What did you hear about it?

Anna: In a nutshell, you’re taking pretty good actors and your making ‘em behave like idiots, and if you’re into guys acting like idiots go for it, but that’s not really my scene.

Migs: Well, I think that’s kinda the point of that movie, is that… You know you have… I mean, the guys are… I mean Will Ferrel is just an idiot all the time, so you know he’s going to be funny, and then Vince Vaughn is one of my favorite actors and he’s the funniest when he’s acting stupid. So, I don’t know, I think it’s a guy movie, you know. I wouldn’t imagine that you would like it.

Anna: Alright, you take your chances with that movie, but count me out.

Discussion

I’m not planning to see Old School, but I will say that it does have some actors I really like in it. Will Ferrel was great on Saturday Night Live and I loved Vince Vaughn in Swingers. Luke Wilson is probably my favorite of the three, because he was so sweet in movies like The Royal Tenenbaums and Bottle Rocket.
Even though I like the actors I have my doubts about the movie. Migs may be right though – it could just be a guy movie. I’m sure all the immature guys out there will relate to it.
