”One language spoken worldwide would lead to better international relations.”

If we spoke a different language, we would perceive a somewhat different world.” Ludwig Wittgenstein once said. Have you ever wondered what the world would be like if people spoke only in one language ? Would not it be quite ridiculous ? In this essay I would try to discuss this idea focusing on influence of this idea on international relations.

As always we have more than one opinion about this innovatory issue. Firstly if all the people spoke one language there would be fewer problems with understanding each other. For example thousands or even millions of people this day travel to different countries, understanding and cooperating with various nations is the major problem for most of the travelers.

Moreover in more formal situations like getting job or going to university in other country it will be easier to avoid language barrier between nations. Where this true we would be able to study in every country we want. When we want to choose a university we would only concern about level of teaching without worrying about language.

One argument against is when this statement true there would not be any international relations because simply it would not be any nations. Language is the most important thing when we want to keep nation or our country traditions alive. For example in Poland the language was the way in which people indentified themselves as Polish when they were under occupation.

Furthermore some people always mentioned that one language will not prevent fights between some national groups. In this point we could not forget about religion. Some national or religious groups could probably want to keep their language alive in case of being independent.

In conclusion, people always made, make and will make some problems between nation, religion, race etc. The idea of one international language for me it is not a way to heal the world. Moreover from my stand point world will be less colorful without variety of languages around the world.
