Syrian Arab Republic

January 4, 2012

Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So, boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps.
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now—
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

Thank you for the meaningful and touching poem, dear Firass.

Yes, Mother's words: " life for me ain’t been no crystal stair" are so true.

Never give up while climbing up even when you feel alone. The only way is to go ahead, and you will be surprised how much strong you are when there is nobody to give you a hand.

"Who will tell whether one happy moment of love or the joy of breathing or walking on a bright morning and smelling the fresh air, is not worth all the suffering and effort which life implies."  ~Erich Fromm
