The latest episode of “TopZehn” was about the ten most cruel prisons. >One of them was the “Gitarama-Prison” in the least developed country of Rwanda: In the 90’s this prison was hopelessly overcrowded. There were several thousand inmates more than were actually supposed to be there. Many suffocated due to a lack of oxygen, died of starvation or – some of them were forced to stand for days – exhaustion. Of course this environment also caused a lot of stress, making them kill each other. Due to a lack of food cannibalizing those one murdered was nothing unusual. Of course diseases – lethal or harmless – were common, too. Luckily due to international protests changes were made. >”El Rodeo” is a prison in Venezuela where guards prefer some and discriminate against others. While some are allowed to sell drugs in this prison, have access to the Internet, even are allowed to leave to go to a disco, and even can found their own gangs and start brutal gang wars with the gangs of other inmates, nothing is done to prevent them from kidnapping, mistreating and even murdering those inmates who get discriminated against.
