The newspaper “Stern” – which unfortunately is available in German only – states that experts found a way to cure malaria, which is a life-threatening disease people get when an infected fly bites them. They just weakened certain infected flies to a point where they couldn’t cause any real harm to the doctors’ patients and then they made this fly bite these patients. The patients didn’t feel any negative side-effects and now are immune.
Approximately 660.000 people die each year of malaria. Most of them are poor people from African countries like Rwanda, because the flies that carry this disease actually do very well in the mostly warm climate there.
Some people now are happy that these scientists found a way to help these poor men, while others stay pessimistic and say that most of the people who will get access to this medicine may be wealthy tourists from Europe and North-America who are just looking for an adventure in Africa.
We will see who is right and who is wrong.
.................................................
For example: As the name says the organization “German Doctors E.V.” is an association of doctors from Germany and they think that as doctors they have the duty to help everyone who is sick or injured no matter whether or not he can afford the treatment. So these 332 doctors are sent to very poor countries, like Rwanda where they heal the poor without even getting paid.
However “German Doctors E.V.” urgently needs more money which people can send to:
EKK-Bank
Bank Account Number: 4 88 888 0
Bank Code: 520 604 10

According to the German website where I found it, this photo shows a Rwandan street child. If you want to learn about two organisations that help them and maybe even want to get involved yourself, then you should visit the following websites: “http://www.streetkidsofrwanda.org/newspage.html” and “http://www.ubakaurwanda.org.uk/projects”.
