Dear DanilZ! Well, let's see some dates at first: 1.: 1849. 05. 21. : Russian intervention against Hungary : the tzarist army helps the austrians to break down the Hungarian Revolution. (I wrote this for only a point of interest) 2.: 1945. 02. 13. : The Soviet Army occupies Budapest. Maybe to stop fascism, as you said. And to build a socialist country using Soviet Union as a model. The communist Hungarian leaders were just toys in the hand of the communist leaders in the Soviet Union. Altough, Hungary wasn't a part of the Soviet Union, the Red Army stayed here for the whole time. And then people said, that's enough. Enough from dictatorship and oppression. They just wanted to live humanly. The Revolution of 1956 broke out (23 October). Hungarian people had a few days, when they had freedom, dreams about a better future, about new country, which they would be happy to build up with their own hands. For a few days they could believe that they can break away from cruelilty, and from the world of plain-clothes man (secret police). And then…. 04. november 1956. : the Soviet Army tread out the revolution. (another intervention). Budapest was bombed down. And of course there came the punishment of peolple who were barve enough to stand up against the Soviet Union. 22 thousand people were imprisoned more than 350 people were executed 13 thousand people were interned without a legally binding judge, and a few hundred were deported to the Soviet Union. Maybe never came back… All this happened in just 3 years, between 1956 and 1959. And it didn't stop. I'm lucky, because I didn't have to live trough all these. But I'll never forget my Grandfather crying when telling us about all this. He had to live in fear, because he was clever and religious. This two things were the biggest enemy of communists. I really wish you could understand me. I know that your country also lost many people in the war, but please try to think about my point of wiew as well. You may ask: Hungary? What's that? Only a little country between germanic and slavonic countries. Not similar to any of them: we are finno-ugrians. Maybe it's a miracle that Hungary still exists. Fanni P.s.: and I almost forgot to tell you that we were lucky among the other countries dictated by the soviets. Just think about Poland, Romania or the Czeh Republic.
