If you look at Israel's history with the Arab states, namely it always being outnumbered and surprise attacked, its at least understandable that the Jewish state takes measures like that. Although it may sound cruel, if there are less than 5 million of you, against 180 million of the others, you need to show that 'the lives of your people aren't cheap'.

Still, it was a stupid and unnecessary war, but the blame lies with Hezbollah who led Lebanon to disaster. Yes, they were the ones to fund a lot of the reconstruction, they had to, otherwise many people might have turned against them for starting the war in the first place.

I dare say that the fundamentalists in the Hezbollah ranks had more say in the decision making than.. well the religious fundamentalists did in the decision to enter Lebanon. Any country would have reacted the same way, when their soldiers get killed ands captured, and when the Gallilea is under rocket fire.

As an American Jew, I feel I must apologize for all of the unnecessary violence that has been perpetrated on innocent Palestinians and others in the Middle East.

I want to let you know that Americans are, for the most part, not bad people.  There is a great deal of ignorance and laziness here, and much of it continues to exist because major news organizations care about money far more than they care about getting the truth out.  The TV news we get is mostly designed to entertain, not to inform.  Don't misunderstand me—the American public has to assume its share of responsibility.  However, most of the money and power in the U.S. is controlled by very few people, and they have almost total control over the information that gets in and out.

Even worse, the right-wing movement in this country has almost destroyed the public school system by refusing to pay enough taxes to sustain it.  Many Americans are ignorant of what is going on in the rest of the world because it is almost impossible to get a decent education without a lot of money.  College tuition is rising much, much faster than inflation.  The situation is very difficult, and can be heartbreaking when you know how the rest of the world sees you.

Europe will have to alter its welfare state, not to imitate the USA, but to simply survive economically.  To be honest, how can a country like France with a huge deficit and 10 percent unemployment continue the way it's going? it can't .  

The Usa and Europe are very different and the necessary liberalization  will be different too.

France's entire revenu is absorbed by the interests it has to pay for its huge debt.  Economically France is in dire straights, over 10 percent unemployment? Is that normal?   Not for the Anglo-Saxon world.

And honestly, if things are so great, why was Sarkozy elected on a reform platform?

Well obviously people always want change, but Sarkozy is very different from past Gaulist presidents. We'll just have to see what he'll do.  

True but then you have other examples like that of Canada which have a good balance. A big country with a budget surplus.  Basically I think that liberalization is a good thing and necessary in a world in competetion with Asia, China etc   

But that's an opinion, its not necessarily shared by many Europeans, but necessity forces people to make tough decisions.

I think the answer of your question: ‘coz USA’s having a crazy president! He’s crazy for war, occupation, invasion, blood etc. USA has elected wrong man! Plz think twice to elect him for next election! USA has big power to change the world, so if its people places wrong man to be president, it can be ‘end of the world & go to hell!’
