Sometimes things become too predictable, too run of the mill, too boring. That’s when you need to break the mold and do something exciting and new. When you break the mold, you do something that is unique and innovative, something that is different than what other people are doing or expect.

In the quote above, Anthondy Kiedis is saying that his band The Red Hot Chili Peppers is trying to create music that is different from the music of other alternative rock bands. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are breaking the mold.
