Nedra

John:   What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had Nedra?

Nedra:   Well I think when I was in Germany, um, I got paid to sit as an audience member for this show that was kind of like a German version of [def 3094]Oprah[/def].

John:   Was it actually Oprah?

Nedra:   No, it was some, like, blonde lady. I don’t know. She was pretty cool though. She had some people on there that, uh, walked on hot coals.

John:   Did you get paid well?

Nedra:   Yeah, it was pretty decent. I could live pretty well off of it.

John:   The weirdest thing I’ve ever done is sold shoes at a store called Fred Meyer. Do you know that place?

Nedra:   Oh yeah, I’ve bought shoes there before!

John:   Yeah, it was back in college. I think I made about six dollars an hour. And I wouldn’t say it was the most fun job I ever had, but it paid the bills.

Nedra:   Yeah, so you just basically got minimum wage?

John:   Yeah, it was right around there.

Discussion

Nedra’s job in Germany sounds like fun to me, but I wouldn’t ever want to be a shoe salesman! What do you think about the jobs John and Nedra had?
One important thing to note when listening to this conversation: When John asks Nedra if she knows of Fred Meyer he says, “Do you know that place?” However, his comment sounds more like, “You know that place?” this is a very common way of speaking during casual conversation!
What is the weirdest job you have ever had? Do you want to ask John and Nedra questions about their jobs? Come to the Life Goes On message board and share with us!
I hope you all have a great week,
Tanis
