The other day Chad’s wife had a new baby girl! It’s their third one. He’s a lucky guy to have three daughters.
Being a dad isn’t easy. In this conversation, Joe asks Chad some questions about being a dad. Joe hasn’t had any children yet, so he’s curious.
Dialog
1. Listen and Read - Listen to the audio and read the dialog at the same time.
2. Study - Read the dialog again to see how the vocab words are used.
Joe: So Chad, how’s your new baby?
Chad: She’s doing really good. The, the eating and sleeping habits aren’t quite easy for us yet. She kind of, uh, sleeps for two and a half hours, and then eats for an hour. Just twenty-four hours a day.
Joe: Wow. It’s probably pretty intense right now just making sure everything goes smoothly?
Chad: Yeah, it is. I’ve got two other kids that always want to hold the baby and we have to be careful of her head, kind of, being unsupported.
Joe: So what kind of things does the baby need?
Chad: Well, her room has, you know, a diaper, a diaper pail, um, a crib, actually with a little pillow that tilts her head up, upright. And there’s definitely lots of extra diapers.

Chad sounds like a great dad. He seems to care very much about his new daughter. Even though she keeps him up at night, he loves her very much.
Have you had children? I haven’t, but it sounds like very hard work but a lot of fun.
Do you have any baby stories to tell? If so, please come to the Life Goes On message board and share them with us. Thanks!
