Hi Friends!
I hope that you all had a relaxing and fun holiday weekend! I think I’m still full from the huge Thanksgiving dinner I ate last Thursday! A bit more activity might have been good for me!!!
Last week Miguel and Beth talked about their plans for the long Thanksgiving weekend. This week you can listen to them talk about their Thanksgiving experience.

Beth:   So Miguel, how was your Thanksgiving?

Miguel:   It was actually really good. I went down and uh, saw my mom and the rest of my family and, uh, we had a huge, huge, huge meal. I can’t believe how much I ate!

Beth:   Did you cook anything for the big meal?

Miguel:   Well… I tried to make a pumpkin pie, but, um, I don’t think it turned out too well because other people made pumpkin pies, and theirs were way better.

Beth:   So, what was your favorite part of being with your family?

Miguel:   Well we actually, uh, ended up playing this game that we always play every year, it’s called “Dictionary,” and, basically it’s like, um, I don’t know – It’s a stupid game – but you try to invent definitions for words, and so, it’s just really fun to share, you know, with like twenty people, a game like that.

Beth:   That sounds really cool. Did you play for hours and hours or did you do other things as well?

Miguel:   No, we actually ended up playing for like, we started at six that night and we played until after midnight. It was… But I mean… Some, the old people had to go to bed, but then the kids, you know, stayed up and got kind of crazy with the Dictionary game.

Beth:   Cool! I love family traditions like that!

Miguel:   Yeah, I uh, I really look forward to Christmas now that I had a good Thanksgiving. It should be fun!

Discussion

It sounds like Miguel had a wonderful holiday with his family. This is what I like best about Thanksgiving too!
Beth and Miguel talked a little bit about holiday traditions. Miguel told Beth about the game that his entire family plays every year. He says it is a silly game, but that it is a lot of fun for everyone involved. This is just one example of a tradition. Other families may have their own traditions like all going to see a movie together on Thanksgiving day, or going around the dinner table and having each person tell the family what they are thankful for this year.
