Hi Friends!
People find lots of interesting ways to spend their time. Outside of work, people take part in hobbies like sports, cooking, art, decoration, computers, music and about a million other things. Hobbies are often what make people interesting, because they vary so much.
Anna owns a horse. She spends much of her time doing things associated with her horse, so she often talks about it. Listen to her recent conversation with Migs about some of the things she has to do!

Migs:  Anna, what’s going on with that horse you own?

Anna:  Oh, Sally. Someone’s really interested in buying her. But, I have to shave her first.

Migs:  Shave her? What does that mean?

Anna:  Uh, clip all her hair off. Uh, obviously not bald, but just down to a really close shave.

Migs:  So, that makes her more saleable? Like, more appealing to a customer, or what?

Anna:  Um, it does a couple of things – makes her certainly more attractive, because she’s really hairy and muddy with all the rain we’ve been having; um, and as she gets into shape, she can work out a little bit harder because she cools off quicker because the hair doesn’t keep the moisture trapped to her body.

Migs:  That’s, uh, interesting. So, the shaving is actually something that will last for a long time? I mean, won’t all of her fur just grow right back? Wait, is it fur or hair?

Anna:  It’s hair.

Migs:  OK.

Anna:  I don’t actually know the difference, but I know it’s hair. It lasts about 3 months and by that time summer will be here and she’ll have a nice short coat. Uh, it takes about 2 hours to shave her and it is itchy.

Migs:  Interesting.

Discussion

Anna’s been into horses for a long time, but unfortunately it sounds like she’s selling her horse. She probably doesn’t have time to do all of the work associated with taking care of such a big animal. It sounds like it’s a pretty big deal.
I’ve never been into horses, but I do love animals. I only have a couple of cats at home now, but I would love to have more pets in the future. Hopefully that will happen someday!
Have a great week!
