Though Devan and Jason are happy together, there’s something that’s been eating at Devan. Since he couldn’t remember anything that happened the month before the accident, she lied to Jason when he came out of his coma and said they were together before he fell.
But Devan talked it over with Dale and Ella, who recently revealed a big secret of their own, and decided that she should tell Jason the truth. Watch as Devan sets the stage with a nice dinner and then tells Jason how they really got together.

Jason: Oh man, such a great dinner.
Devan: That was so good. I’m so full. Thank you so much for making dinner.
Jason: Yeah, Marni showed me the recipe. It’s really great.
Devan: Well, I’ll have to thank her for that next time I see her. That was amazing. So, I have to say, I know I said I wanted to come over to have dinner…
Jason: Yeah…
Devan: ...but there was another reason…
Jason: Why? Wha…
Devan: ...I wanted to hang out tonight. There’s something I really need to get off my chest.
Jason: Really? What?
Devan: It’s been weighing on me for so long.
Jason: Oh my gosh.
Devan: Um, I don’t know how to say this. Just first of all, I want you to know I love you…
Jason: I love you.
Devan: ...and my feelings for you are completely sincere. But what’s not sincere is the way we got together. See, when you woke up from your coma, I lied to you and said we were together before your coma and we weren’t.
Jason: I know.
Devan: You know?
Jason: I remembered everything about three weeks after I came out of the coma.
Devan: You did?
Jason: Yeah. But uh…
Devan: Why didn’t you say anything?
Jason: Well, I liked that story better and I felt bad about just…I didn’t like you for all the wrong reasons. I see now that we’re perfect for each other and I love you for who you are, you know?
Devan: So you’re OK with it?
Jason: Yeah. I’ve known. I’ve been OK with it the whole time.
Devan: And so even if my cancer comes back and I lose all my hair, you’re not going to leave? You’ll still love me?
Jason: Well, don’t ever say that again, but of course.
Devan: I’m so relieved.

Discussion
Jason is surprised when Devan says she has something serious to talk about after their nice meal. Devan is nervous about how Jason will react to knowing that she lied to him, so she assures him how much she loves him before she tells the secret.
But it turns out she didn’t have to worry—Jason’s memory came back and he remembered everything, but he didn’t say anything because he likes the way things turned. He sees now that he and Devan are a good match and that it was foolish of him not to like her before just because she didn’t have any hair.
How did you expect Jason to react? Has a lie ever led to something good in your life?
