Have you ever had a conversation with a friend and while everything seemed normal at the time, later you find out you weren’t having the same conversation? You remember it differently. Each remembers the other saying things that may or may not have been said at all. That’s what happens on today’s episode of the Ebaby! soap opera.
Ella, as you may recall, quit her job a police officer. It was fun for a while, but now she needs money. Luckily, last week Devan decided to start a company. While Ella and Devan talk about it, does it seem like they’re on the same page?

Ella: So, I was trying to get a couple donuts, you know, typical stuff. My card was declined. I don’t even have three dollars left in my bank account.
Devan: Bummer. Well, you know, maybe you shouldn’t have left your other job.
Ella: It is just stressing me out so much. I think I…I’m trying to find a new calling in my life, you know? And, like, I’m really glad you’re starting this American Dream Boat thing because I feel like that could be my next calling. You know?
Devan: It could be. I would love for all of you guys to work there.
Ella: Really? Oh my gosh! It would be great!
Devan: It would be great. I would really, really love it.
Ella: That’s awesome ‘cause I would love to work for you ‘cause, like, you know, friends…We get each other.
Devan: Yeah. Friends helping friends. It’s just a great deal all around.
Ella: Yeah. No, it’ll…
Devan: I’m excited.
Ella: Basically, it’s a sure thing so…
Devan: Well, it’s definitely a sure idea.
Ella: Yeah. I’m glad you’re sure about that.
Devan: I’m sure that I would love that if it happened.
Ella: Oh yeah. It will. It’ll be great.

Ella’s card was declined. She is totally out of money and needs a job, so she’s excited about the idea of working for Devan’s new company.
Devan says she would like for Ella to come work for her, but doesn’t say it will definitely happen. Ella, however, seems to think it’s a sure thing.
When was the last time you misscommunicated with someone like Ella and Devan do in today’s lesson?
