It’s the beginning of a new year, and that means that more people than usual will be hitting the gym. Gym memberships typically soar after New Year’s, when people make getting fit one of their New Year’s resolutions.

Gym memberships are popular in the U.S. But not everyone who belongs to a gym actually spends a lot of time working out. It’s easy to have good intentions about exercising and losing weight. Actually getting on a treadmill is a little harder. Ella thinks she can convince Beren to hit the gym with her.

新年伊始,去健身房健身的人比往常多了许多。新年之后健身会员的数量往往都会激增,因为人们常会下定决心在新的一年中强身健体。
美国很流行健身,但并非健身馆会员们都真的会花大量的时间锻炼。制定锻炼和减肥计划很容易,但是做起来却有点困难了。艾拉认为她可以说服贝伦与她一起健身。

Ella:  Alright, let’s do it. Let’s go, let’s hit the gym.

Beren:  No way. I do not feel like working out. I hate working out.

Ella:  Oh come on! It feels good. Your heart’s pumping. A little sweat. You feel your muscles ache.

Beren:  No, I have this problem. Maybe it’s not a problem, maybe it’s a good thing. But if I start working out too much, I get all bulky.

Ella:  There’s ways to work out where you don’t have to become a body builder, you know, you just want to feel the burn. It feels so good to work out.

Beren:  I don’t know. I’d be into like doing some cardio, but I don’t want to lift weights. I need to like get lean, but I don’t want to get like too toned.

Ella:  I like yoga. I feel like it’s the perfect balance ‘cause I don’t like the fast-paced stuff, ‘cause it just makes me dizzy. But yoga, you’re getting a good core workout, you’re getting lean. I like it.

Beren:  I’d be into that. I’ll do some yoga with you.

Ella:  Sweet.

Ella wants Beren to hit the gym with her. But Beren isn’t interested in working out at a gym. She doesn’t like lifting weights, because she thinks it makes her muscles get too big. She would rather do some cardio exercise or yoga.

Although Ella likes yoga too, she also enjoys going to the gym. She likes to feel her muscles ache after a hard workout. She thinks working out feels great, and there are lots of different ways to do it depending on what kind of results you want.

Do you ever work out at a gym? What do you like to do to stay fit?

i think,,to have e treadmill more easy than others.people could sport every time..i stay fit if i walk one hour three times a week.

i usually work out at gym 45 min a day..i do cardio for halh an hour & other 15 min  i just lift up …we have free yoga lesoon at gym…i attended few lesson then i found out that its not for me i was bored stiff doing that..it made me totally tukered out.i just love to burn my calories.so cardio is best for that & by doing it i am building up my endurance…...

occasionally, I hit the gym in order to get fit. It is  scarcely of any importance to feel the burn or not. From my point of view, the mental ability  is largely  dependent on the physical condition.

The perfect way to stay fit for me is walking or jogging: fresh air, nature, mp3 player with music I love or maybe friends… I have also worked out at a gym a few times, but in my view, doing exercises in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings is much better and more enjoyable. :)

when I'm in vacations I can workout, it feels good, but when i'm studying I don't have much time to do exercise. I like lift weights. Go to the gym is a good alternative to meet people and get a litttle fun. I'll try to hit the gym this semester.

When the weather is good, I'll go jogging with my hubby.  We tried at least 3 times per week.  We sometimes also hit the gym when it's not so good for jogging outdoors.  I love yoga the best.

These couple of weeks, it's pretty cold and rained a lot in Taipei.  Too bad that I've eatten too much and exercised far less than before.  No doubt, I gained a lot of weights!! 

I really need more work-out to get fit and keep up my New Year's resolutions!
