Definition
1. Definition - Study the definition.
be patient; watch and observe before doing something
2. Use - Learn how the slang is used.
A lot of things take time. Baking a pie, for example, or growing your hair long. Having a baby takes nine months. We have to wait for a lot of things to happen in our lives, so it’s something we’re used to doing. We don’t always know what will happen or what we’ll get, either. Some people don’t know that they’re having a boy or a girl until the moment their baby is born. In that case, they have to wait and they have to see.
Asking or telling someone they have to wait and see simply means that they need to be patient. It means that there’s no answer yet, and it will take time before they find out. We can’t always get what we want when we want it.
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch is definitely interested in starring in the new Star Wars movie, but he doesn’t know if he’s going to be asked to do so. He knows that no decisions have been made, so he has to wait and see. Sometimes we don’t have a choice!
When is it hard for you to wait and see? Are some things too difficult or important to wait for?
