Josh:  So I’m excited for, uh, summer and the summer blockbuster movie season, you know.

Migs:  I haven’t really thought about it that much. What, what movies are you excited about?

Josh:  Well, I haven’t seen The Matrix yet, and, uh, The Hulk is gonna come out, and I just saw X-MEN last weekend. They’re all big, fun, flashy movies, you know.

Migs:  Yeah, totally. You saw X-MEN already?

Josh:  Yeah, the X-MEN, X2 – the sequel.

Migs:  Oh, right, right, right. So how was it?

Josh:  It was really cool. There’s, there’s a lot of characters, you know, all the, all these crazy comic book superheroes with all these different powers, and working together, and, you know… It’s, it was really exciting.

Migs:  Did you see the first one?

Josh:  Yeah, I thought it was OK. But one of the cool things about the second one is that some of the bad guys from the first movie work together with, you know, who you think the good guys are. Uh, you know, they kinda team up for, for a common goal. And I liked that twist.

Migs:  So you think the second one is better?

Josh:  Yeah, I think it was.

Migs:  I, I have to admit – I didn’t really like the first one, but I think the characters have a lot of potential. Like, I think one thing that’s cool about X-MEN is in addition to their cool powers and stuff it seems like the characters have interesting histories and psychologies and all that kind of stuff.

Josh:  Yeah, like however they got their powers is usually an interesting story, and like, how they deal with it, ‘cause they’re real different from everyone else.

Migs:  Yeah, it actually is, like, emotional at some times which I think is neat.

Josh:  Yeah, it’s, it’s, it’s like a social drama, I mean at the same time as being a huge action movie.

Migs:  Right.

Discussion

The cool thing about the X-MEN has always been that they’re much different from other superheroes. Unlike characters like Superman and Batman, who are celebrated by the people they help, the X-MEN are shunned. Because they are mutants, people are scared of the X-MEN and want them to stay away.
I haven’t seen X-MEN 2 yet, but I’m definitely excited to see it. I’ve always liked the X-MEN because they seemed like normal people. They have special powers, but they also experience fear and confusion and all the other things normal people feel.
See you at the movies!
