Steph: Hey, dude. You look kinda sad.
Devin: Aahh. I just heard about Rick James passed away. I was a little bit, uh, depressed because he’s one of my, uh, heroes of, uh, funk and soul music.
Steph: Oh yeah. I heard about that. I, uh, I read about it online. What was one of his famous songs?
Devin: Well, he had a number of great songs. But, uh, Superfreak was probably his most popular.
Steph: Oh, yeah. I think, ya know, that song comes on at dance clubs almost every time I go out dancing. When was the first time you heard it?
Devin: Oh, musta been, uh, 1983, I would say. It was a long time ago. It’s still a classic.
Steph: Definitely still a classic. I mean, I’m surprised nobody’s covered it.
Devin: Yeah. It’s a, uh, song. Maybe I’ll cover that song when I, uh, start my own heavy metal band. I’ll do a heavy metal version of Superfreak ‘cause I like all kinds of music.

It’s amazing how someone you don’t even know can touch you. Many musical artists touch their audiences and make them feel happy or sad. It’s hard when one of your favorite musicians passes away, because you know that there will never be another song written by them. I admire Rick James because he made songs that were fun and created good times!
