Migs |
Anne: Hey, Miguel. What did you do Saturday night?
Migs: Oh, you know. I hit up this club downtown – went dancing.
Anne: Did you score?
Migs: No, I didn’t really meet anybody. There was this hot girl, but I didn’t know what to say to her.
Anne: Miguel, you’re a pretty smooth guy. I’m sure you could have thought of a lot of things.
Migs: Yeah, but chicks dig really cool guys – the ones with pickup lines.
Anne: You mean like, “Hey, baby. What’s your sign?”
Migs: Yeah, something like that!
Anne: No, girls do not like cheesy guys with pickup lines. Girls can see right through that, trust me. We don’t want to be impressed. We just want you to be honest and be yourself. That’s it, and we’ll stay with you the whole night if you’re just yourself.
Migs: So, like, what should I do? Should I just walk up and say, “Hi. I’m Miguel.”
Anne: Yeah, that would pretty much work. Just be yourself and be funny and maybe make us laugh. That’s all we really want.
Migs: So if I had a good joke, that would work.
Anne: Yeah. A good joke might work.
Migs: Cool.

Can you relate to Migs? I bet you can. Talking to someone for the first time can be hard, especially if they are really good-looking! Do you have any ideas for good things to say to people when you meet them for the first time? If so, please come to the Ebaby! Message Board and share your opinion at the “Life Goes On” section. Until next time,—John
